As a corporation residing in wormhole space we have to be aware of our surroundings at all times. Because we do not have local when we are in wormhole space we have no idea who is in our wormhole at any given time. This means we must always be using scan and be aware of pilots coming and going into our wormhole. As such we must take certain actions to make sure our fellow pilots do not see us as a threat. This can be done in several ways.
- Naming ships - It is important to label your ships correctly while in the wh. Our procedure has been to have a star behind our ships name with a number representing the number of vowels in our name. While not foolproof, it does help eliminate some panic when we see a new ship pop up on dscan. Example would be "CCS Fozzie ✪3" There is a keystroke command for this key but it may be easier just to cut and paste.
- Probes - When in the wh and you see other pilots on it would be a good idea to announce the launching of probes. Nothing panics a lone miner than suddenly seeing probes pop up on dscan, especially combat probes. A simple "My probes" in corp chat when launching will alleviate a lot of unnecessary panic and warping back home.
- Local Chat - There is almost no reason to use local chat while in the wh. When you use local chat your name stays up in local chat for a long time, which means anyone in the wh can see that you are in there. It is never corp policy to heckle, berate or threaten people on local chat. All this does is give you away and may cause unwanted aggression between us and another corporation. When your name appears in local chat it not only gives you away, but allows any pilot to enter our wh to see our corp information, which can be an advantage to an aggressive corp. If you really want to talk to another pilot in wh space use private chat, though be careful about what you say.
